Follow Jacques, the boat lift keeper, on his last inspection round and listen to him share the stories and anecdotes that shaped the remarkable history of this unique monument — a true witness to France’s industrial golden age.
Then, climb aboard a real Freycinet barge and discover the unique lifestyle of the barge workers.

With one of our mediators, explore the area around the Fontinettes Boat Lift and take in the impressive human engineering that enables navigation on the historic Neuffossé Canal.
Then, step back in time to 1967 in the interpretation centre, where you'll meet Jacques, the boat lift keeper, who will share with you the stories that bring this extraordinary monument to life.
